WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Bible

We believe the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God, without any error, the all-sufficient authority in matters of faith, doctrine, and Christian living. (II Tim. 3:16-17; II Peter. 1:19-21; Acts 1:16; Acts 28:25; Psa. 119:105, Rev. 22:19; Isa. 8:20; Eph. 6:17; Rom. 15:4; John 5:45-47; John 5:39)

The Trinity

We believe there is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being…

God the Holy Spirit – Genesis 1:2; Psalms 51:11; 139:7ff.; Isaiah 61:1-3; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4,38; 4:31; 5:3; 6:3; 7:55; 8:17,39; 10:44; 13:2; 15:28; 16:6; 19:1-6; Romans 8:9-11,14-16,26-27; 1 Corinthians 2:10-14; 3:16; 12:3-11,13; Galatians 4:6; Ephesians 4:30; 5:18; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 John 4:13; 5:6-7; Revelation 1:10; 22:17)

The Cross

We believe in the Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ, and that He is true God and man. He died on the cross for our sins. He rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father and is now our High Priest and Advocate (Gen 3:15; Isa 7:14; Matt 1:18-25; Luke 1:35; Mark 1:1; John 1:14; Psa 2:7; Gal. 4:4; I John 5:20; I Cor 15:47)

The Creator

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and therefore lost. Only through regeneration by the work of the Holy Spirit can man’s salvation and spiritual life be obtained. (Gen 3:1-6, 24; Rom 5:12, 19; Rom 3:10-19; Eph 2:1, 3; Rom 1:18; Ezek18:19-20; Rom 1:20, 28, 32; Gal 3:22)

Salvation

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and therefore lost. Only through regeneration by the work of the Holy Spirit can man’s salvation and spiritual life be obtained. (Gen 3:1-6, 24; Rom 5:12, 19; Rom 3:10-19; Eph 2:1, 3; Rom 1:18; Ezek 18:19-20; Rom 1:20, 28, 32; Gal 3:22)

Regeneration

We believe in a regenerated church membership: that is, persons old enough to understand their need for Jesus Christ and, of their own free will, repented of their sins, and accepted Him as their personal Lord and Savior. (Matthew 16:15-19; 18:15-20; Acts 2:41-42,47; 5:11-14; 6:3-6; 13:1-3; 14:23,27; 15:1-30; 16:5; 20:28; Romans 1:7; 1 Corinthians 1:2; 3:16; 5:4-5; 7:17; 9:13-14; 12; Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 3:8-11,21; 5:22-32; Philippians 1:1; Colossians 1:18; 1 Timothy 2:9-14; 3:1-15; 4:14; Hebrews 11:39-40; 1 Peter 5:1-4).

Baptism

We believe that baptism is by immersion and the Lord’s Supper is a memorial to His suffering and death on the cross. These are ordinances to be observed by the church in its present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means for man’s salvation. Salvation is by grace through faith alone (Matthew 3:13-17; 26:26-30; 28:19-20; Mark 1:9-11; 14:22-26; Luke 3:21-22; 22:19-20; John 3:23; Acts 2:41-42; 8:35-39; 16:30-33; 20:7; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 10:16,21; 11:23-29; Colossians 2:12; Ephesians 2:8-9)

The Resurrection

We believe in the personal, bodily, imminent, and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ and that His Second Coming inspires believers for dynamic and zealous life and service for Him while waiting for His return. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, the everlasting blessedness of the saved in heaven, and the everlasting punishment and separation from God of the unsaved in hell. (Isaiah 2:4; 11:9; Matthew 16:27; 24:27,30,36,44; 25:31-46; 26:64; Acts 1:11; 17:31; Romans 14:10; 1 Corinthians 4:5; 15:24-28,35-58; Philippians 3:20-21; Jude 14; Revelation 1:18; 3:11; 20:1-22:13)

The Local Church

We believe in the autonomy of the local church. The church shall manage its own affairs and shall not be subject to any other religious body or organization. (Matthew 16:15-19; 18:15-20; Acts 2:41-42,47; 5:11-14; 6:3-6; 13:1-3; 14:23,27; 15:1-30; 16:5; 20:28; Romans 1:7; 1 Corinthians 1:2; 3:16; 5:4-5; 7:17; 9:13-14; 12; Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 3:8-11,21; 5:22-32; Philippians 1:1; Colossians 1:18; 1 Timothy 2:9-14; 3:1-15; 4:14; Hebrews 11:39-40; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Revelation 2-3; 21:2-3)
